One of my favorite activities in the last 4-5 years has been working on my photos in Picasa. I just love to crop, brighten, improve contrast and try special effects to make as colorful a photo as I can.

I thought this growing love of bright colors is just because it’s fun, but I realized that much of it is due to getting older.

The Sherwin-Williams web site says that as we age, whites are seen as more yellow, blues and greens become difficult to tell apart, and pastel colors also become hard to distinguish. Older people increasingly start to prefer easily perceived bright colors.

I found these little nuggets of information to be depressing, but I still love colorful photos. Be prepared for me to start posting neon colors in a few years!
