When I say we used the neighboring stone quarry as our personal park/hiking spot on Sundays, I’m not kidding. This is another photo taken from the quarry area in early spring 1983. It was taken from the top of a giant pile of dirt at the quarry. The vantage point gave a great view of the surrounding farms and rural area. I don’t think the view has changed much since then.
Sometimes when I spend a lot of time on a photo it really means I need to go back and start over again. In this case I got the best result with a whole sequence of effects: straighten, crop, auto contrast, I’m feeling lucky, fill light, tuning, sharpen, focal black and white, graduated tint, vignette, and museum matte.
